BUSH GREEN BEANS

Variety Days Comments
Bush Blue Lake 58 6" long, round, straight pods. Medium dark green color with a white seed. Excellent canner and freezer. Slow to fiber. Standard for home gardens and processing. 
Horticultural Taylor (Cranberry Bean) 60 - 80 Long, straight, light green 5" long pods. Thick, flat pods hold buff colored beans with red mottling. Striking appearance. Can be used as a green bean at 60 days, or as a shell bean at 80 days.
Roma II (Italian) 59 Bush type romano beans. 5" long pods are broad, flat and tender. Stringless pod has the distinctive "Roma" flavor. Slow to fiber, rust tolerant. Small, erect bush is easy to pick. Can also be used as a dry bean.
Jade PVP * 56 7" long, round, straight pods. Excellent dark green color, flavor and yields. Large upright bush is easy to pick. Holds color well. Good disease resistance. Grower and home favorite.
Derby * 55 AAs Winner, market and grower favorite. 7" long, straight pods are dark green with very little fiber. Great taste. Good yields.
Bush Kentucky Wonder 56 Heavy yields. Vigorous, upright 18" plants hold pods well off the ground. Flattened pods are 6" to 7" long, blue-green in color and low in fiber. Delicious flavor.
Royal Burgundy 55 5" to 6" long, purple pods that turn green when cooked. Tender, stringless, round, meaty pods. Upright plant is easy to pick. Good vigor in cool soil. Good disease resistance.
Stringless Green Pod 50 Round, slightly curved 5" to 6" long pods. Dark green in color. Crisp, meaty and stringless pods. Very productive. Popular market variety
Improved Tendergreen 54 Pods are 6" long, nearly round, dark green, tender and stringless. Rich flavor. Used for canning, freezing and shipping. Tolerant to mosaic. Seed is dark purple with mottled tan. Heavy yields of meaty beans.
TopCrop 50 6" long pods are medium green, round, smooth and meaty. Outstanding flavor and tenderness. Vigorous, productive bush, with pods near the top. Mosaic resistant. Concentrated set, favorite with growers. Good freezer.
Masai (French Filet) * 55 7" long, slender, medium light green and almost round pods. Stringless when young. Can be picked when young (3"), or when mature. Great thin, gourmet bean for markets. Extremely tender.
White Half Runner 65 Pods are 7" long, medium light green and almost round. Stringless when young. Bush is half runner type. White seeds, good flavor. Resistant to common bean mosaic. Heat and drought tolerant

Cherokee Wax 50 6" long, bright yellow, straight, oval pods with black seeds. Stringless, with good disease resistance. Great for home gardens and market
Pencil Pod 54 6" long, oval to round pods that are golden yellow. Slightly curved and fleshy. Good yields. Standard home garden yellow bean.
Golden Wax 50 Pods are 5" long, flat, light yellow and fairly stringless. Seed is white with a purple eye. Erect 16" plant is very productive.
 Indy Gold * 58 6" long pods are medium yellow and  round in shape. White seed. Resists greening at tips. Refined pod and bush. Disease resistance. High yields. Popular for farm markets and home gardens.

SHELL BEANS

Dark Red Kidney 95 6" long, medium green pod with 5 dark red seeds per pod. Traditional chili bean. Pods are inedible. Vigorous plants tolerate late rain well.
White Navy 65 Use at 65 days as a green bean, 85 days for a shell bean. Averages 4 to 5 seeds per pod. These white beans do not get mushy when cooked.
Fava, Broad Windsor 75 Light green 8" long pod with 4 to 7 large, flat, brown beans per pod. Thrives when planted in cool weather like peas. Tall (48") vigorous plants.
Pinto Bean 85 This can be harvested young as a snap bean. 5" to 6" long, green pods hold 5 to 6 buff beans speckled with red. Popular as "refried beans" Good for dryland conditions.
Edible Soybeans (C1855 Hybrid) Short Day Garden soybean with purple flowers and tan pods. Can tolerate all soil types. Can be harvested like lima beans or planted for the wildlife.

POLE BEANS

Kentucky Blue 60 6" to 9" long, round, straight, dark green pods with a white bean. AAS Winner. The flavor of a Kentucky Wonder bean, but sweetened by the Blue Lake parent. Disease resistance. Vigorous climber.
Kentucky Wonder 65 8" long, flat, oval, green pod with buff colored seeds inside. Distinctive flavor. Best when harvested young. Plants are hardy, prolific, grow to 7'. The original pole bean.
McCaslan (Snei Bonnen)

8" long pods are medium green, large, slightly curved, thick and meaty. Best when eaten young. Produces from the ground up. Bears over a long time.
Kentucky Wonder Wax

65

Straight to slightly curved, flattened, oval bean. Golden yellow beans are 6" to 9" long, ½" wide. Stringless, prolific. Light, chocolate brown seeds. Bears over a long time.

LIMA BEANS

Fordhook 242 75 Uniform, flat, 5" long, medium green pods with 3 to 4 plump seeds per pod. Heat resistant. Heavy yields. The standard large lima bean.
Henderson Bush 65 Flat, baby lima, 3" x ¾" dark green pods with creamy white seeds. Compact plant. Dependable variety. 3 to 4 seeds per pod. The standard baby lima.
Jackson Wonder Bush 65 Speckled bush lima. Broad, flat, 3" long, dark green pods with buff colored seeds mottled with black. Heat and drought tolerant. 3 to 4 small seeds per pod. Vigorous plant.

POLE LIMA BEANS

Christmas Pole 90 5½" long, broad, flat, medium green pods. Seeds are green with slightly raised areas of red. Turns pink / brown when cooked. 3 large seeds per pod. Bears even in extreme heat.
Florida Butterpole 85 4" long, flat, medium green pods with 3 to 4 seeds per pod. Seeds are buff colored with purple blotches. Heat and drought tolerant. Bears over a long season. Heat tolerant.
